Description of Mount Dandenong: Mount Dandenong is a popular and hugely attractive mountain area to the east of Melbourne. At Mount Dandenong is Heritage Hill: a cluster of historic buildings set in picturesque gardens at 51 Langhorne St. These include the Benga Oral History Centre, St James' Church (Mount Dandenong's oldest building) and 'Laurel Lodge' (1869). There is also a Social History Museum. The monumental two-storey stuccoed town hall was built in 1890. Also of interest are the 17-km Mount Dandenong to Patterson Lakes Cycling Trail, Churchill National Park and Lysterfield Lake Park. Luxury self-contained accommodation is available at Mount Dandenong.
