Description of Benalla: Benalla is an important and interesting rural centre situated on the Broken River. Known as the 'Rose City' it is noted for its public gardens. The Costume and Pioneer Museum features a permanent exhibition relating to Ned Kelly who has strong associations with Benalla and the surrounding area.
