Hotel & Motel Accommodation in Cooktown, Queensland

Located 240 km from Cairns, Cooktown was the site of the first white 'settlement' in Australia when Captain Cook beached the Endeavour in the area and his crew stayed on for 48 days. Appearing with the gold boom, Cooktown now experiences a tourism boom. Fine reminders of the gold days are the James Cook Historical Museum building (1886), the Westpac Bank building (1889) and the highly interesting Cooktown Cemetery. Also of interest are the Cooktown Sea Museum, Black Mountains National Park and Lizard Island. Classy holiday accommodation is available at Cooktown.
