In a natural setting on 25 acres of native forest and lawn, it’s all too easy to see why guests feel so at home at stylish Billabong Moon. Owners Andy and Jenny Birtchnell have designed the property as a relaxing retreat in classic Australian design with wide verandahs and a fresh, contemporary décor.
There are five spacious, self-contained cottages – Billabong, Casuarina, the Studio, Sunset Ridge and Treetops – each thoughtfully designed and positioned to ensure total privacy..
The outdoor hot tub at Casuarina is the perfect spot to soak away the tension of the day before relaxing in front of the blazing fire and sipping a glass of the Hunter’s famous Shiraz. The Studio has a bohemian atmosphere and enticing teak four-poster bed while Sunset Ridge and the elevated Treetops also have king beds and larger spa baths – the bush bath at Treetops is a favourite spot for those at one with the outdoors. At Billabong, guests can lounge on deckchairs as they fish for silver perch from the waterside deck or just enjoy the ever changing water view.
The cottages are energy efficient double brick except Treetops which is elevated and features corrugated iron and timber. All have reverse cycle air-conditioning for instant warmth during the glorious cooler months with their bright clear skies and crisp cool nights. Romantic wood fires and timber floors add to the ambience of the living areas, while the baths and spas for two offer the chance to indulge in a sensuous Red Wine Bath.
If food and wine is another passion you’ll be spoilt by the variety and quality nearby and, when you return to Billabong Moon, there are the romantic walking tracks, the all-weather putting green the outdoor bonfire area and the saltwater pool to add to the year-round enjoyment of your holiday.
